Since our humble beginnings at St. Andrew United Methodist Church some forty years ago, Community Services, Inc. (Meals on Wheels of ocean County) has grown into one of New Jersey’s largest and most efficient providers of senior support services. Each year, we provide meals and outreach services to thousands of Ocean County seniors. Whether it’s Meals on Wheels, our Congregate Meals Program, or outreach services including benefits screening, transportation, socialization and recreation, the work we do provides nutrition, comfort and meaning to the lives of our seniors.
We are driven by a passionate belief that senior citizens deserve to lead happy, healthy and above all, meaningful lives. From forty years of experience, we know the best way to accomplish this: By doing everything we can to keep them in the environment where they’re most comfortable—at home.
We like to think of our seniors’ homes as Memory Galleries, filled with reminders of the people and places that give their life meaning. A family picture on the mantle, a scrapbook of vacation photos, a simple painting on the wall…these are the things that give their lives context and emotional significance. No hospital, assisted living or nursing home facility can replace that.
We see it all the time: just knowing that somebody will be knocking on their door with food gives our seniors a reason to get out of bed. Oftentimes, our drivers are the only people they see all day. For a homebound senior, Meals on Wheels and our other services are about far more than simple nourishment. They’re about emotional and spiritual health.

…and while you are praying for us, consider volunteering your time to call or visit a homebound senior. Also, please consider a tax-exempt financial gift to help us continue the vital work of feeding and caring for the elderly in our community.
