Marks of Discipleship

Posted by Erik Hall on

During the month of November we will be celebrating our faith in Jesus Christ here at St. Andrew. There are lots of ways to describe our commitments and investments in the journey of faith, hope, and love. Collectively, these commitments and investments are called 'Marks of Discipleship'. In essence, they are divided into four main categories:

Personal Faith Formation

Serving in the Life of the Church

Reaching Out into the Community

Gratitude and Generosity in Financial Giving

All month long our worship celebrations will aim to inspire greater and deeper faith commitments and investments so that, as a church, we continue grow in faith and live into our mission:

Welcoming all to where Christ is the center, love is the answer, and serving is the mission

God has something special planned for St. Andrew on the horizon! We do not yet know what it is...   but there is a God-sized mission waiting for us to jump in with both feet of faith.

How will we discover what God has for us? By following the road map detailed by the Marks of Discipleship of course

1. Committing as individuals to continue to grow in faith through prayer, study, worship, fasting, and other regular spiritual practices (personal faith formation)

2. Investing our God-given time and talent by volunteering in ministry to grow the church in both size and impact (serving in the life of the church)

3. Building relationships in the community and working together with neighbors to identify the needs of people and provide for them in the love of Christ (reaching the community)

4. Giving cheerfully and significantly of our financial resources to build, maintain, and expand a healthy, vital, and successful church that reflects the power and love of Jesus himself (gratitude and generosity in financial giving)

Let's work, pray, and dream together this November to chart a course into the future!

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
